Lifegroups create consistent space for us to live our daily lives with the kind of sacrificial love Jesus commands us to have for each other.  Lifegroups are small gatherings of people that meet in homes biweekly to pray together, worship together, discover and encourage each other’s gifts to flourish, share a meal together, care for each other’s needs, welcome the stranger into a family setting, celebrate victories and mourn losses together, and serve the world together.

Before showing up to a Lifegroup, please communicate with the Lifegroup leader ahead of time that you are planning to attend and who will be coming with you.  If groups become too large to provide adequate space in homes, we will work to make more groups available.  Upon entering your hosts’ home, please wear a mask, wash your hands often, and be mindful of others personal space.  If you have been sick or recently traveled by plane, please stay home and join us next time.  Any food shared at the gathering will either be served by one person or individually packaged to minimize contact.

Discipleship Groups (DGroup for short!) provide a more intimate space for us to be transformed by the Word of God like Jesus’s disciples did as they followed Him everywhere.  In a DGroup, three or four individuals in various stages of their faith commit to vulnerably work through topics central to the truth of the gospel and the impact it has on their lives.  These groups require personal study and every member of the group is expected to contribute to the learning process.  Although we have many incredible resources available to guide these groups, we advocate DGroups start with Discipleship Essentials by Greg Ogden.  To be prayerfully and intentionally connected to other individuals ready for a discipleship journey, email us at disciple@detroitchurch.com.
