“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone in silence when it is laid on him.”
Lamentations 3:25-28 (ESV)

join our five day silent fast ~ July 7-11, 2025

A silent fast combines intentional silence, simplified rhythms, and spiritual focus. During this time, you refrain from speaking (as much as possible), remove external distractions (like social media or unnecessary noise), and embrace solitude and stillness to better hear God’s voice.

Silence is not empty; it’s a sacred space where we trade our voices and busyness for God’s presence.

  • It helps sharpen our listening ears, making room for God.

  • It reveals the condition of our hearts, often hidden beneath words and distractions.

  • It disciplines the tongue, reshaping our speech and attitudes

  1. Set Clear Intentions
    - Our intentional silence will start at sunrise and end at sunset.
    - During these hours we will only consume liquids, fruits & vegetables.
    - Before sunrise and after sunset, eat at your discretion but with moderation.

  2. Create a Quiet Environment
    - Turn off screens, music, and non-essential notifications .
    - Find a peaceful spot—indoors or outdoors—where you can be undisturbed.

  3. Fast from Speaking
    - Avoid non-essential conversation, including texting and emailing.
    - Speak only when necessary—be deliberate and gentle .
    - Clearly, there will be any exceptions for work and other activities where we need to interact with others. The key here is avoiding unnecessary, non-essential conversation.

  4. Fast from Distractions
    - Stay away from social media, entertainment, and news .
    - Use time in prayer, Scripture reading, or quiet contemplation instead.

  5. Embrace Solitude and Stillness
    - Sit quietly with God, allowing His presence to speak before your mind.
    - When intrusive thoughts arise, gently bring your focus back to God.

  6. Reflect and Journal
    - Write down any revelations, insights, questions or prayers.

other guidelines & considerations

  • Health first: Don’t fast from speech if it jeopardizes your safety, job, caregiving, or essential relationships. Also, do not fast water or food if you are pregnant or a nursing mom, or have not been cleared to do so from your doctor

  • Mercy and balance: Maintain necessary communication; avoid attention-seeking silence.

  • Listen to God and community: If you need to speak, do so with humility, seeking reconciliation and care.
